Every December, as the lights go up and the dining rooms across our Jax restaurants take on their festive glow, there is one night our teams anticipate more than any other: Feast of the Seven Fishes. For well over a decade, this Christmas Eve celebration has become one of our most beloved traditions. A night where culinary heritage, coastal flavors, and the warmth of community all come together at the table.

A Coastal Tradition with Deep Roots.

The Feast of the Seven Fishes is an iconic Italian-American Christmas Eve ritual, born from coastal and Catholic traditions. Historically, families would gather before midnight mass for a seafood-focused meal, honoring religious customs and celebrating abundance from the sea. The number seven carries symbolism as the seven sacraments, but the deeper meaning is simple: coming together around a meal that feels both sacred and celebratory.

Why dining out on Christmas Eve matters!

There’s a reason guests cherish this experience. The holidays are busy... joyful, but busy, and there is something truly meaningful about letting someone else take care of you for the night. No dishes. No stress. Just great food, great wine, and the company of people you love.

Feast of the Seven Fishes feels traditional, but also fresh every year. It’s celebratory without being fussy. And it’s one of the few holiday experiences that feels both nostalgic and new.

For more than a decade, this dinner has grown into a moment our guests and teams look forward to all year. It carries history, warmth, and that unmistakable Jax spirit. As Sheila puts it:

“The Feast of Seven Fishes is such a special event for us at Jax. It’s become a true holiday tradition, and we’re so grateful to our guests for making it something we all look forward to each year.”
